Cumin seeds which are commonly known as Jira or Zira is an essential Indian spice and is well-known for its carminative effect. It relieves nausea and vomiting, eases digestion and is used as a quick Ayurvedic remedy for constipation and diarrhoea.
Jeera Kashaya which is a herbal preparation of the decoction of Cumin seeds is a medicinal solution and a quick home remedy that is used to reduce ailments of the digestive system in the field of traditional Ayurveda.
PREPARATION OF JEERA KASHAYA:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 small teaspoon of Jeera/Cumin Seeds
- 1 Cup water
- Homemade butter
METHOD:
- Gently dry roast Kasturi Jeera/Cumin seeds on a low flame.
- Simultaneously make sure to boil a cup of water in another vessel.
- As soon as the Cumin seeds leave a subtle aroma on being roasted, add the boiled water to it.
- Boil the mixture till the water level reduces by half, leaving behind a concentrated decoction of the Jeera/Cumin seeds.
- Sieve the decoction and add a little butter to it.
- Savour the herbal juice of Cumin seeds while its piping hot.
