SWEET SHANKARPALI

Last week we shared Salted Shankarpalis and we felt the Shankarpalis scream for sweet flavors!! Everyone loves a good quick snack and Shankarpalis coated with Sugar Syrup or powdered sugar are just perfect for those sweet cravings of yours.

Here’s how you can make them!!

RECIPE CARD FOR SWEET SHANKARPALI:

INGREDIENTS:

  • Maida: 4 Cup
  • Cardamom: 1 Table Spoon
  • Sugar: 2 Cups
  • Water: 1 Cup
  • Salt

METHOD FOR PREPARATION:

Preparation of  Dough 

  • Take water, salt,Maida in a vessel and mix it well till you can make the dough with hardness similar to Chapati dough.
  • Keep it aside for half an hour.

Preparation of  Shankarpali

  • Make balls out of the dough
  • Roll the balls
  • With a knife or Shankarpali cutter, make diamond shapes from the dough.
  • Fry the above diamond pieces till the golden brown color appears.

Preparation of Sugar Syrup

  • Take about 3 cups of granulated sugar and 1.5 cups water in a vessel and heat it on a medium flame.
  • To check the syrup, take 1 to 2 drops in a bowl. Check the syrup for one-string consistency: Let it cool down and then take the syrup between you thumb and index finger. move your thumb and index finger apart to see if one single long thread is formed by the sugar syrup.
  • Add cardamom powder to the syrup.

Preparation of sugar coated Shankarpali:

  • Put in the fried Shankarpalis to the sugar syrup and mix it well enough but gently so that you don’t break the Shankarpalis.
  • You could also coat the Shankarpalis with powdered sugar.

Have them as you like it.

Storage Tips:

  • Store the Shankapalis in an airtight container.
  • Consume within 10 days of preparation.
