Some kitchen hacks, a couple of knick-knacks is what we bring in with our posts on the Kasturi Social Media handles. Here’s another quick snack which has a generous amount of sweet right from our Amchi’s Kitchens.

HOW TO MAKE PENORI:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/4 cup rava
- Ghee
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup maida (as required to knead the dough)
- Oil for frying
- Sugar
METHOD:
Preparation of Dry Penoris:
- Knead a nice soft dough using the ingredients.
- Divide the dough into equal smaller balls. apply some butter to these balls and leave aside for 15 mins.
- Flatten and roll out the balls as thin as possible using Maida to dust the dough as and when required.
- Brush the flattened dough with melted ghee and dust it with Maida.
- Place a couple of the flattened ones, one on top of the other and roll the entire thing into a tight log.
- Cut the log into as many pieces of 1 inch size.
- Flatten these cut pieces gently.
- Deep fry these in medium hot oil.
- Drain the fried Penoris and keep aside for five mins.
Preparation of Sugar Syrup:
- Take about 3 cups of granulated sugar and 1.5 cups water in a vessel and heat it on a medium flame.
- To check the syrup, take 1 to 2 drops in a bowl. Check the syrup for one-string consistency: Let it cool down and then take the syrup between you thumb and index finger. move your thumb and index finger apart to see if one single long thread is formed by the sugar syrup.
Preparation of sugar coated Penoris:
- Put in the fried Penoris to the sugar syrup and mix it well enough but gently so that you don’t break the Penoris.
- You could also coat the Penoris with powdered sugar.
Have them as you like it.
Storage Tips:
- Store the Penoris in an airtight container.
- Consume within 10 days of preparation.
